![]() No diarrhea, some soft stools and a couple of floaties. I am avoiding all dairy as well as I'm lactose intolerant. The hyperactive bowel noises have diminished although I did have some in the middle of the night. General malaise today but was able to take a nice walk. Heartbeat was up a bit, a little anxiety type chest pressure, and didn't sleep well last night. I'm about 7 days into the 14 day script and had only a few side effects which started today. In his many years of practice, he's seen Xifaxan work in most cases of SIBO. I was able to get it through my insurance for $0 and he offered to give me samples if my insurance did not cover it. I asked him about the SIBO test and he said it's not always reliable so a lot of times he proceeds directly to the Xifaxan. TBH, I was a little shocked he would write the script w/o a test. He was pretty confident it was SIBO having ruled out most other things. About 20 minutes into the visit, he suggested a 2-week course of Xifaxan without testing for SIBO 1st. Update - went to a 2nd GI who patiently listened to my story and went over all of my labs and test results.
